MID AGE MAGIC: ROBERTSON'S FOUR-UNDER MASTERCLASS SEALS THE WIN

2025 Sussex Mid-Age Championship – Results & Highlights

The 2025 Sussex Mid-Age Championship, held at Worthing Golf Club on Thursday 8th May, saw a strong field of 68 players compete over 36 holes across the Colt and Vardon courses.

With a split-course format and plenty of movement on the leaderboard throughout the day, it was Mark Robertson (Haywards Heath) who produced the standout round of the tournament — firing a second-round 66 to leap from four shots back and claim the Gross title on 138.

There was a real buzz around the clubhouse as players waited for scores to come in, after word spread of Mark’s impressive four-under-par round. His total put pressure on the later groups to return scores in red figures — but ultimately, it was a target no one was able to match.

Scott Nightingale (Worthing) finished runner-up on 139, with consistent rounds of 67 and 72. Three players tied for third place on 144: Steve Watts (Seaford), Drew Bailey (Pyecombe), and Greg Nicol (Worthing).

In the Nett competition, with players only eligible to win one prize, the title went to Bryan Mundy (Worthing), whose combined Nett score of 139 secured him the win after Gross champion Mark Robertson was removed from the Nett standings.

The event was well supported by both competitors and volunteers, and Sussex County Golf would like to thank Worthing Golf Club and all those who helped deliver a well-organised and respectful event — including a coordinated two-minute silence across both courses to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
