Sussex Seniors continue there recent winning streak with a 6 - 4 victory against Kent at Worthing Golf Club.
Both Mark Buss (East Brighton GC) and Arwel Roberts (Dyke GC) gave Sussex a strong start, with Mark winning 5&4 and Arwel closing his match comfortably 3&2. The middle games proved to be very tight however further points from Jim Banting (West Sussex GC), Scott Williams (Worthing GC), Doug Park (Highwoods GC) and a half from Martin Galway (Pyecombe GC) got Sussex over the line with 5.5 points out of 10.
With brief spell of wind and rain, thunder and lightening appeared to be looming during the match but luckily held off until the last match. Dean Manning (Copthorne GC) was 1up on 16 hoping to bring back a point however was cut short by the klaxon. With further bad weather on the horizon, in true sportsmanship Dean and his opponent agreed on the half resulting in a total of 6 points for Sussex and 4 for Kent.
The match marks another win for the team putting us in good stead to reach the league final. We look forward to our final match of the year vs Surrey at Crowborough Beacon Golf Club where we can hopefully seal the deal.
A massive thank you to Worthing Golf Club and their staff for presenting a great venue for the match in spite of the turbulent weather.
