Acknowledgements
Events like these simply don’t happen without a huge amount of work behind the scenes.
Sincere thanks go to Cowdray Golf Club for being outstanding hosts.
Particular thanks to:
Tim Allen and Tim Fuster, for their continued support, countless pre-event phone calls, and multiple site visits to help ensure every detail was in place well ahead of time.
The greenkeeping team, for their dedication in preparing the course to such a high standard.
Catering, clubhouse, and pro shop staff, for their professionalism, warmth, and flexibility across all three days.
The members of Cowdray Golf Club, not only for volunteering their time as ball spotters throughout the stroke play and match play stages, but also for coming out in force to support the finals. Despite challenging weather conditions, it was fantastic to see so many spectators following the action on course.
Special recognition goes to our refereeing team:
Chris Spencer and Steve Williamson, who acted jointly as Chief Referees. Their contribution extended far beyond officiating on the day – including writing the local rules, marking the course, pre-planning contingency protocols (for everything from lightning to course flooding), and supporting players and organisers from early morning to the final signed card. Their role on the fairways is only a small part of the high-level preparation they deliver behind the scenes.
As Level 4 R&A referees, we are incredibly fortunate to have world-class officials like Chris and Steve supporting county golf.
Jeff King, Associate Referee, whose presence on Friday and Saturday was a huge help to the team.
In addition to referees, a team of county officials supported pace of play monitoring and course-based scoring stations, enabling live scoring updates throughout both the stroke play and match play stages.
