Our Sussex team took on the challenge at Clandon Regis Golf Club, competing against the region’s best in this prestigious qualifier:

It wasn’t the result we were hoping for, as we were simply outplayed by some unbelievable scoring on the day. Hertfordshire Golf delivered a remarkable performance, finishing with a team total of 15 under par—a truly outstanding achievement that set the standard for the field.

Sussex finished 8th overall out of 11, and Eve Clarke and Russell Evans were extremely proud of the boys’ conduct and their commitment to their game plans, even when things didn’t go our way. A special mention to George Shakespeare, who was our player of the tournament, finishing on a superb +2 for the event.

Winning is always fantastic, but how we lose together as a team—with respect, resilience, and pride—is just as important. These experiences will only make us stronger for the events ahead.

Lastly, a huge thank you to Eve for organising everything behind the scenes, from driving the van to making sure food, accommodation, and logistics were all sorted. And to Russell, for not only being such a great support and coach, but also for always keeping spirits high, guiding the boys through the highs and lows, and helping them learn from every moment. Thanks also to Ian Shakespeare for kindly helping transport some of the golf gear.

We already look forward to welcoming everyone to Sussex in 2026 when we host this fantastic event.
