U18s at Hockley GC – Final League Match of the Season
On Sunday 8th June our U18s played their final league match of the season at Hockley Golf Club taking on both Surrey Golf and Hampshire Golf
A big well done to:
• Max Martin Royal Eastbourne Golf Club – 2 points
• Joe Powell Seaford Golf Club – 2 points
• Charlie Curtis Haywards Heath Golf Club – 2 points
It was a tight match against Surrey, just losing out 3.5–4.5, but the team showed great character to bounce back with a solid 5.5–2.5 win over Hampshire.
Surrey still have two matches left and are in a strong position at the top of the table — therfore it is unlikely we will make then final this year. Whatever happens, we’re really proud of the team’s efforts this season. There’s plenty to look forward to with next year, and in each player’s individual summer of golf.
We also say goodbye to U18s squad golf for Joe Powell, Matt Vearncombe of Copthorne Golf Club and Kochi Cooper of Chartham Park Golf and Country Club. Thank you for everything you’ve brought to the squad — we wish you all the best in your next steps, both in life and in golf, and we hope to see you back representing the county again in the future.
A special shoutout to Joe Powell, who finished the season undefeated with 5.5 points from 6 matches — the best record on the team. Outstanding work, Joe.
