Today, Friday the 8th March 2024, we hosted the first of two Coaching Get Together Events at Rustington Golf /Centre for Sussex Seniors. The day was managed by Rick Thomas and Paul Plant with coaching and tasks set by Steven Orr the County Coach. Fourteen players attended and it was a great chance to welcome several new faces to the Sussex Seniors scene.

Lovely clear weather but a very sharp easterly breeze kept us on our toes. In the morning session Steve set two tasks, a medium iron session with performance criteria which became more difficult as the players tried to move from Level 1 to Level 5. Second task involved wedge shots of eight specified lengths from 50 Yards to 110 Yards. Using Trackman, each yard of difference of carry from target distance counted as one point, accumulated over all eight shots. This session was won by Andy Barnes from Pyecombe GC with a sensational total difference from target for eight shots of 25 yards. He was run a very close second by David Blundell of Nevill GC on 26 yards. Amazing!

The afternoon was 9 holes team Stableford. This was won by Andy Main from Mannings Heath GC, David Blundell from Nevill GC and Douglas Cameron from Worthing GC. It was a great start to the season and provided fun golf with some good leaning points thrown in.

We now have the Seniors Spring Series of events starting on Monday11th March at Worthing GC with two further events at Littlehampton GC and Pyecombe GC to follow.
