Sunday the 24th May 2015 saw Sussex U18's play their first league match of the season against both Kent & Surrey at Effingham Golf Club.

The boys were in fine spirits prior to the match after receiving their new shirts provided by Colas, and looked the part warming up against the opponents on the practice areas.

The team was led by Thomas Thurloway who set the tone with a victory over both Kent and Surrey. Jack Waymark out second managed a win and a loss, as did George Goddard. Leo Ruggieri, who was arguably player of the day, recorded an outstanding 7 & 6 victory over his Surrey counterpart and an important 3 & 2 victory over his Kent opponent, neither of which could deal with his relentless pin seeking approach play and arrow straight driving. At this point, Sussex looked in control. Elliot Webster managed a win and a loss, as did Gregor Macintosh. With things poised for a narrow Sussex victory, we were holding onto the hope of the final two players picking up some points, but unfortunately neither Dan Taplin or Ali Crunden could overcome their opponents, and the match result against both Kent and Surrey ended up 4-4.
