The day I played golf with Lee Westwood by Johua Davis

The day arrived for me to play golf with Lee Westwood and I wasn’t disappointed.

We got to Lindrick golf club at 8.30am in the morning and when we got inside we had a bacon sandwich and  got the itinerary  for the  day,  first I went and got fitted for my new ping driver it was the G20, I was a bit worried because I was the only left hander  there and I didn’t think they would have a left hander driver to try but luckily they did so I tried out some drivers and the perfect size was a man’s club but an inch shorter than the usually size.

In total there was  11 winners  out of 430 golfers so there was four groups  going out,  with Lee spending time with each of us. My tee off time was 10.20am being the third group to go out which meant I was not playing with Lee until the ninth hole. I was really nervous and didn’t start off great but by the time I got to Lee I was a lot more relaxed, he gave me the honour and let me tee off first and luckily I hit straight down the middle of fairway.

Even though it wasn’t a competition I kept a record of my score and on the back nine I shot 38 on a par 36. Lee was very friendly and nick named me lefty and asked me to give him shots on holes. It felt very strange playing golf with the world’s number 2 and with him standing behind me saying good shot.

When we came off the course we went on the putting green to try out some putters to see what worked best for me and it was really hard to decide, in the end I choose the ping Scottsdale putter.

And finally we went inside for the presentation and we all got a box of pro v1 golf balls given to us by Lee. With the footjoy golf shoes to follow in the post.

It was a great day which I enjoyed so much and it is one I will never forget.
