Nevill Golf Club was the venue for our 2nd league match. The sun was shining down on us and all the boys felt confident we were going to perform well. We had an excellent start in the morning with the foursomes. Steve Gibbs & Matt Greenfield showed their first-rate pairing winning 1 match and halved the other on the last hole.

 

The double act Kyle Gaster & Josh Glossop manage a win and a half. Nick Ward & Jordan Russell determination to the end won them a half. Ed East & Alex Bland's excellent team work produced in a win. Despite Jack Walls & Joe Buckley's positive commitment they lost  on the last hole.

This left us joint 2nd with Kent and only 3 points behind Essex the leaders. There was all to play for in the afternoon single matches. The singles results were exceptional with five of the boys winning both their matches.

Joe Buckley displayed nerves of steal on the 18th green, already with one win sunk his putt for another 2 points. Steve Gibbs demonstrated his high level of golf skill winning both his matches. Nick Ward level headed  accomplished 2 wins before the 18th. Ed East put the pressure on from the first hole and continued to have the upper hand through-out; he won both matches before the 17th. On the eleven a mis-hit tee shot from Kyle Gaster lead to a fearless shot over the trees landing him on the green for a birdie chance. This steered the way for a outstanding recovery and gave us another win and half. Matt Greenfield's experience and collected conduct produced a win against Kent. 

Despite the  commendable efforts of Jordan Russell, Alex Bland & Jack Walls they were unable to achieve a come back. True to form Josh Glossop polished of both his matches before the 18th and came in with two wins.

Commendation to all 10 boys for their commitment and team work to accomplish 1st place. This is a fantastic result for Sussex.
